So, you're tired of your bedroom looking the same as everyone else's, right? While sure, the ones you see on TikTok and Pinterest are amazing, the problem is, they look almost like everyone else’s, right? Well, maybe it’s time for an upgrade, and I’ve got the perfect inspo to help.
Now, generally speaking, when it comes to your bedroom, it needs to reflect you and it needs to reflect what you love. So ideally, it needs to reflect the aesthetics that you’re into. But here are a five aesthetic bedroom setups that you definitely need to try if you’re wanting to give your bedroom a whole new vibe! So, let’s go ahead and jump into it!
1. Go with Boho for the Ultimate Chill Zone
If you’re all about that laid-back, free-spirited energy, then Boho is totally calling your name. Okay, so for starters, Boho probably screams “millennial” right? While sure, they really took it and ran with it, you need to keep in mind that Boho isn’t just about macrame plant hangers, bull skulls, or even everything being the color orange.
There’s a lot of variety, and yes, it’s super comfortable too. So, just picture this; some soft earthy tones, a bunch of cozy throw pillows, plants everywhere, and that effortless vibe that says you didn’t try too hard (even though, let’s be real, you did).
Again, there’s a lot of variety out there’s, so even a Green Aesthetic like the Witchie Green aesthetic definitely still offers similar cozy vibes to Boho. But over all, boho is the aesthetic that makes your room feel like a cozy escape, perfect for chilling with your friends or just curling up with a book.
Where Do You Start?
So, you’ll want to start with a neutral color palette—think beige, cream, or warm browns (but you can pick what you want). From there, it's all about layering textures. For example, you can add a woven rug, a macramé wall hanging, and a chunky knit blanket to make your bed extra inviting.
And, of course, don’t forget the plants! The more greenery, the better. You can even hang some pothos from the ceiling, throw in a couple of succulents on your desk, and you’ve got yourself a Boho paradise.
2. Y2K for those Major Throwback Vibes
Y2K is back, and it’s here to stay. If you're all about the early 2000s vibes (and maybe some late 90s and super early 2010s) then this aesthetic is perfect for you. So, you’re going to want to think pastel colors, shiny metallics, and retro tech vibes that make your room feel like you stepped straight out of a 2002 music video.
The Y2K aesthetic is all about nostalgia, fun, and that futuristic-but-retro energy. So, you don’t need to actually make your bedroom into a time capsule (unless you want to), but it’s more about influences from the past like pink furniture, lots of butterflies, hearts, a lot of clouds, and maybe some pop culture references on the wall too.
Where Do You Start?
So a few examples were mentioned above, but let’s go into a but more detail. So, you’re going to want to start with pastel bedding—lavender, baby blue, or pale pink are all solid choices. Then after that you’re going to want to layer on the Y2K must-haves: holographic decor, shiny pillows, and metallic accessories that give your room that sleek, futuristic touch. So these can be a bit hard to find but the chrome look doesn’t matter too much.
Now, neon signs are a must-have too, whether they spell out something cute or just glow in a fun shape (you can’t go wrong with a butterfly). And if you can find one, throw in an inflatable chair (seriously, it’s a vibe). You’ll feel like you’re living in a Y2K dream world.
3. It’s All About the Glow in Cybercore & Neoncore
You’re getting a two in one here, actually, they’re used interchangeably for the most part since there’s so many similarities between the two. If you’re a gamer chances are you’re seeing this aesthetic used a lot of for battle stations and desks. A lot of gaming and PC gear tends to have that neon look too. So, if you’re into bold colors and futuristic, tech-inspired vibes, then Cybercore/ Neoncore is your aesthetic.
You’ll want to think of neon lights, dark backgrounds, and an overall look that feels like it’s straight out of a video game. This is for anyone who loves a room with a bit of drama—where the lighting sets the mood and everything looks like it belongs in a futuristic world.
Where Do You Start?
So, the key to Cybercore is lighting. Just look at some of the pictures in the collage, you’ll see that’s a major factor in all of this. Go ahead and start with a darker base—black or navy blue bedding, or even dark walls if you can go that far.
Then, add in all the LED strip lights and neon signs you can get your hands on. You can go as far as you want, for example, you can outline your bed, your shelves, or even your ceiling with those LED lights that can change color to match your mood. Neon signs that say something cool or even something that references an anime that you like, but neon lights are a fun way to, well, go with the neon core of course!
4. Wabi-Sabi: The Aesthetic of Imperfection
If you’re looking for an aesthetic that feels a little more sophisticated and major, but at the same time offers a super peaceful feeling (while still evoking your personality) then this is the perfect choice. Wabi-Sabi is all about embracing imperfections and finding beauty in simplicity.
It’s actually inspired by Japanese minimalism (not to be confused with Scandinavian minimalism), and this aesthetic focuses on natural materials, soft colors, and a vibe that feels calming and peaceful. If you’re into the idea of having a room that feels zen and clutter-free, Wabi-Sabi might be the perfect fit for you.
Where Do You Start?
Now, the beginning is always the hardest but the first step to creating a Wabi-Sabi bedroom is decluttering. So, you’re going to want to get rid of anything that doesn’t serve a purpose or doesn’t bring you joy (kind of like the Marie Kondo method). The Wabi-Sabi aesthetic is all about simplicity, so ideally, you’re going to want to try and stick to natural materials like wood, linen, and pottery.
Ideally, you’re going to want to opt for neutral colors like beige, soft gray, and white. When it comes to decor, go for pieces that feel organic and textured—like a wooden side table, a linen pillow cover, or a ceramic vase. It’s just about embracing organic since this is seen as imperfect.
5. Coquette is Every Princess’s Dream
If you love all things soft, feminine, and romantic, then Coquette is totally your vibe. It’s delicate, vintage-inspired, and just so dreamy. It’s really similar to the Dollette aesthetic, and you’ll find some hints of Princesscore and Balletcore in it too.
But with Coquette, your bedroom becomes a romantic escape, filled with pastel colors, lace, ruffles, and floral prints that make the whole space feel like a vintage fairy tale. Basically, it’s a space you’d want Lana Del Rey to be proud of.
Where Do You Start?
So, you’re going to want to start with a color palette of blush pinks, creams, and soft lavenders. Look for bedding with romantic details like ruffles or lace edges, and throw in some velvet pillows for an extra touch of luxury. Honestly, the more ruffles and lace, the better.
But it’s also going to help to look into vintage-style furniture like an ornate mirror or a gilded picture frame will really bring that old-school charm to your space. Ideally, they should be white (or you can paint them white) as the dark wooden towns you find from antique furniture is usually just too dark.
But you can usually find plenty of French-inspired furniture that’s newer and more affordable too (just look up “Parisian furniture” or “French country” and you’ll get some results. But anyways, you can finish the look with floral details—whether it’s a bouquet of dried roses or floral-patterned wallpaper.
